You can join giveaways as either a member and download loads of internet marketing products for zero cost or you can join as a contributor to these events and start building your very own email opt in list.
If you have never taken part in a JV giveaway event then I recommend, before signing up as a contributor, you join as a member so you can get a feel of what giveaways are all about and to see the types of products that are on offer.
You will require a domain name, web hosting and an autoresponder account in order to participate successfully as a contributor to a JV giveaway event.

You will also require a gift to giveaway.
